What to expect From Chess For Real

Whether you are an amateur, medium-strength player, or a dilettante who may play chess every once in a while, it makes no difference.  If you have reached Chess For Real, it means that chess is a part of your life and you have goals and an overall enjoyment in chess.

Be wary about sites that will guarantee some sort of results in six months or a year.  You can’t guarantee success in chess, and matters of these kind are up to the student: you have to fight to reach your goal.

So if you wanted secret formulas or magic potions straight from the cauldron, no, there isn’t any. You can also remove any notions of higher intelligence for chess masters, as they – whether or not possessing talent for chess – worked hard to get where they are today.

The only promises that I can make are regarding how you should study and train in chess.  It might be difficult at times, but sometimes that is what it takes to get better in chess.  If it goes against what other sites may propose, perhaps it is due to that of recognizing real work in order to get better in chess.  There is no “magic pill” of sorts to lead you to chess mastery.

So, are you all ready…for Real?

What to expect from Chess For Real

  • Practical advices about the study and training in chess (which, by the way, are different things).  Approach every phase of the game better; I will show you how and with what the Masters train.
  • How do the masters and the soon-to-be prepare for tournaments and the stuff  they use, “the tools of the trade”? Get ready for audio, video, and articles covering this important part of the game.
  • Tough training positions.  Don’t expect your run-of-the-mill “mate in two” positions. Here are some examples to show you what is meant by this.
  • Structured content for all stages of the game.  You don’t need random videos; get ready for a growing complex approach to chess.
  • Interviews. Going above the ambitious nature of the website, Chess For Real will bring you closer to the masters themselves with interviews. That’s why this section is only a project inside the Project. I will do whatever I need to do to make it happen.
  • General chess culture.  Take a break from the positions and analysis, and enjoy lighthearted chess talk, news, and anything else that applies. But, hey, do not expect me bringing you the news to be the usual: I expect the news will come from you. Seriously.

Because this site is about you.

What Can You Do Now to Get Started – and Support Chess For Real?

Take three simple steps to prepare:

  1. Fill out the form directly to your right.  This will keep you update on the project, such as new published articles, training materials, and much more.  Your privacy is protected and will not be shared. Life is too short for Chess, as Lord Byron said, so why to waste time in other things.
  2. Visit “The Daily Position” to begin your chess training at Chess For Real.  Dedicate yourself to these problems and accept the challenge.  If you can’t figure them out, you can view the solutions via the link under the diagram.  Expect to be able to download all problems in pdf to be printed in the future.
  3. Support Chess For Real!  Tweet and/or publish a link of Chess4Real (ChessForReal/AjedrezDeEntrenamiento) and of the fan page (Chess4Real Fan Page).  Play a role in supporting the site and leading others to this resource.

I hope you find this introduction well.  While I build this project, I hope you understand and share the enthusiasm I have for this website.  Your support goes a long way for the good of the community and myself.  Finally – as this will not be a simple task – remember:

Don’t be disappointed if you do not see all that has been promised, in the beginning.  It will always be a work in progress, as this site as well as chess is infinite.
